Insulating an Attic in Lanesborough, MA
Challenge
Problem:
Most homes were built fast and just to be built not to make them efficient. Homes that are not well insulated will have you spending more money on energy and fuel bills. The pink and brown insulation does not work as well as you might think. These are cheap insulation options that are made of fiberglass. Air goes through fiberglass so all the hot air in the summer will come through these holes and get into your home.
This home in Lanesborough was made with efficiency out of the question. That's where we come in. Dr. Energy Saver by Fogarty's Homes Services is here to help.
Solution
Solution:
The home had an attic that was not efficient at all. Our team did an evaluation and came up with the idea of reinsulating it and covering up the roof rafters with Silver Glo. The homeowner agreed to this job. The team got up into the Attic and took out the old insulation and sprayed MoldX2 cleaner to kill off all the mold on the wood. Then we installed the new Silver Glo foam boards on the roof rafters and gable ends. These SilverGlo foam boards are installed to stop air leaks. It is an expanded polystyrene foam with graphite infused into the foam to increase the R-value by 24% over standard EPS foam. In addition, SilverGlo has a radiant barrier face to reflect heat, adding to the insulation value. This results in rooms being warmer in the winter and colder in the summer.
This home is now more energy efficient thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Fogarty's Home Services.
