These homeowners were having a problem with cold floors in the front of there home. They contacted us to see if we could help resolve their problem. One of our certified building specialist went out to meet the homeowners and investigate the problem. Shortly after our building science specialist arrived he diagnosed their problem. The home had a cantilever along the front of the home causing cold floor in the house.
Solution
When our team got there they started to attack the problem at hand. A cantilever is a building system were the floor of the first floor extends past the foundation letting cold dry air in in the winter, and hot humid air in in the summer. The first thing we did was remove the nasty, old and infesed fiberglass insulation from the bay spaces. The next thing to do is to stop the conditions from continuing, our team used silverglo and fire foam to block airflow and build up conduction value. Silverglo is a EPS foam board infused with graffite bumping up the R-value buy 24%. After completing the project the homeowners will no longer have the problem of having cold floors.
