Photo Album: Reducing Humidity and Cold Floors in Colebrook, CT
This photo album shows how we encapsulate and insulate a dirt crawlspace in Colebrook, CT. This homeowner was having massive humidity issues, as well as cold floors and inconsistent temperatures throughout the seasons. Hostile outdoor temperatures were easily leaking into the home. Long story short- they were uncomfortable in their home all year round. With our crawlspace encapsulation system, we are able to bring this nasty, damp dirt crawlspace into a nice, temperature controlled storage area for the homeowner. We use our SilverGlo insulation board along the crawlspace walls, lay down a plastic drainage mat, covered with TerraBlock floor insulation, and finished with cleanspace crawlspace encapsulation liner. This is spiked to the floor and made permanent in the crawlspace. This eliminates the hostile outdoor temperatures to enter the home, and this home is more comfortable all year round.
Before Photo of a Damp, Dirt Crawlspace
Here is a before photo of this damp, dirt crawlspace. As you can see it is un-useable for storage. In the winter, the vents will allow harsh cold air into the home. In the summer, vents let warm, humid air into the home which is cooled by the subterranean crawlspace which causes relative humidity to rise and condensation to form, which leads to musty odors and mold.
