Photo Album: Making a Home in Salem, CT More Comfortable
These homeowners in Salem, MA were experiencing drafts in their home and had energy costs as a result of their home not being well air sealed or insulated. The home was modular, and there were air leaks were the separate pieces of the home met. The attic had inefficient insulation and air sealing, the same went for the basement, which was not completely underground, exposing it to the harsh weather above ground.
We started off with the attic, removing the old insulation, sealing where the two halves of the home met and any other seams and cracks. We installed baffles to keep ventilation, and then blew in our TruSoft cellulose insulation. With the attic done we moved to the basement where we started by insulating the rim joist, or perimeter of the flooring system of the home. We then installed our Foamax polyosicyanurate foam insulation board onto the walls with our Foam-Tite fasteners. The Foamax will stop the conductive flow of heat through the basement walls.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this home is more comfortable and energy efficient!
