Photo Album: Creating Easy Access to a Crawlspace in Stockbridge, MA
These homeowners in Stockbridge, MA had issues with moisture and cold air in their crawlspace. While we were there, they also asked for easier access to the crawlspace, as they only had a small trap door to get into it, and they knew that they were going to have to replace their boiler in the next few years.
We found that the best solution for this situation would be our Turtl crawlspace access system. The Turtl consists of an airtight door and a sealed access well, it will never rust, rot, or need paint! Combined with our Cleanspace encapsulation system, it will now be possible to access the crawlspace easily without getting wet or dirty.
We dug out the area where the door would go, used a jackhammer to open a hole in the concrete wall, and finally installed the Turtl. Substrate can then be filled around it to help with drainage and keeping the Turtl in place.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, there is now easy access to this crawlspace for any maintenance that is needed.
Dug Out Access Area
Space for the Turtl is neatly dug out.
Opening up Wall
The most exciting part! We used a jackhammer to create an opening in the concrete wall of the crawlspace where the door will go.
The Turtl
The Turtl is put into place. Substrate will then be put in around it to keep it stable.
