This homeowner in Ludlow, MA called us saying that she is having an issue with some rooms in her home being very cold. When our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home, he noted that the room in question was directly above the garage. The lack of insulation in the garage was causing cold air to come into the living space through the walls separating the garage and the rest of the home.
We were able to help this customer! We first started by marking spots on the garage ceiling where we need to dense pack. We made sure that these were in a straight line between the joist bays. We drilled into the garage ceiling. We then used a long hose to blow TruSoft™ cellulose insulation into the joist bays. This compressed all of the loose fiberglass batts in the ceiling. Dense packing prevents air leaks as well. We then re-plugged the garage ceiling and sealed them back in. Now, this homeowner will be able to have a comfortable home - especially over the garage!
