Preventing Ice Dams in Stockbridge, MA
Challenge
This homeowner in Stockbridge, MA called us out because they had very bad ice dams in the winter. This occurs because the heat we pay for rises up in out home and makes its way into the attics. Once the hot air gets there it heats up the roof deck. when it does this, the snow on the roof starts to melt. Once the water reaches the gutter line, it refreezes. This will continue to happen unless we do something about it.
Solution
To fix this issue, we installed our Super Attic treatment. We start by putting blocking in every bay so the air from the soffit cannot get into the attic floor and make the rooms cold below. Then we put up the runs of Silverglo foam insulation boards making sure to air seal between every sheet of Silverglo. After this treatment is completed it looks great, prevents ice dams, and makes your home more comfortable year round!
