Reducing Air Leakage in Amherst, MA
Challenge
This homeowner in Amherst, MA called us out to their home with cathedral ceilings to make their home more energy efficient and reduce air leakage. Cathedral ceilings are usually under insulated, letting the air you are paying to heat or cool escape and exit the home. This creates higher energy bills and a cold and drafty home.
Solution
To take care of these homeowner's concerns we know we need to insulate this area. We first tear down the drywall so that we have access to the ceiling space. Next, we install our SilverGlo foam insulation boards along the ceiling to increase the insulation value. The boards are fastened with special long screws. Next, we are ready to dense pack our TruSoft Cellulose insulation behind the SilverGlo. We cut boxes as shown in the photos and put our hose in through the holes to install the Cellulose to stop all air flow and insulate. This will stop drafts, and air leakage throughout the home. The only thing this homeowner has to do is put the drywall back up! Now, Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions this home is more comfortable, and energy efficient!
