Getting Rid of Old, Dirty Attic Insulation
Challenge
Attic insulation in your home can get pretty nasty. Older insulation like fiber glass insulation has organic elements making it easier for mold to grow. Over many years old insulation sits there collecting dirt, dust, pollen, bugs, rodent feces (from mice, squirrels, bats, etc.), bird droppings and nest and all kinds of undesirable things. Older insulation needs to be removed for a proper air sealing job to be done. To make your home more energy efficient, simply makes the most sense to get rid of the old dirty insulation prior to adding today's standard blown TruSoft cellulose insulation.
Solution
