Superattic in Gales Ferry, CT
Challenge
Are you dealing with major heat gain in the summertime making your home more uncomfortable? Your uninsulated attic could be costing you way more money than you need to spend!
Vented attics are hostile places with hitting -30 degrees in the winter and all the way up to 125 degrees in the summer. Homes with vented attics result in major heat loss to the attic from the house and ducts in the winter, and heat gain in the summer. This causes very uncomfortable rooms in the home and higher fuel/electric bills.
Solution
The solution to vented attics and lower fuel/energy bills is to Superattic your attic. What that entails is we would line the underside of your roof deck with this graphite board called SilverGlo. The graphite gives it a superior R-value with a foil face on each side to reflect heat out in the summer and keep it cold in the winter. The roof is still vented making sure to prevent ice damming in the winter and in the summer excess heat is vented out. No harsh chemicals are sprayed in the process. After all this is done now your attic is part of the conditioned space in your home and ducts in the attic are no longer in a hostile environment. Your attic will be more clean, less dusty and suitable for storage.
Results: Your home is less drafty, warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, lower fuel and electric bills, less dust.
