Cellulose Attic Insulation in Worcester, MA
Challenge
Problem:
This home had very bad insulation in the attic and their knee wall space which was wasting the homeowner's money on fuel and energy bills. Warm air sneaks through the cracks of the roof and into the attic which makes its way into the home. If not properly insulated this could result in cold drafty rooms downstairs, colder floors, and the house is harder to heat up and keep comfortable.
This homeowner in Worcester, MA had this exact problem and we were there to help them.
Solution
Solution:
Our Team talked it over with the homeowner and they agreed. For the attic, we started by removing all the old insulation that was collecting dirt, dust, pollen, bugs, and rodent feces. This made room to install the SilverGlo roof deck. We lined part of the bottom of the roof deck with the SilverGlo and then started spraying around the TruSoft Cellulose. Then for the knee wall space, we took out all the old insulation the same way as the roof but for this, we added SilverGlo foam boards between the ceiling joists bays and under the rafter up to the knee wall and sealed at the top with foam sealant. This SilverGlo board is expanded polystyrene foam insulation with graphite infused into the foam, which increases the R-value by 24% compared to regular EPS foam. The board also has a radiant barrier on both sides to reflect rood heat out in the summer and heat back in the winter. Both help you save money on your energy and fuel bills.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Fogarty's Home Services, now this homeowner can save money and not have to worry about the heat coming in from their attic getting into their home.
