Installing a SuperAttic™ System in Lebanon, CT
Challenge
This homeowner in Lebanon, CT was having issues with his attic. He had gotten his basement re-insulated elsewhere, but problems were still occurring. That's when he was referred to us to check out his attic. When we arrived, we noted that there was very little insulation in this attic. This was causing mold issues and excessive heat issues. With mold-sensitive health issues and multiple animals in the home, it was imperative that this get fixed as soon as possible. This is especially because this family was using their attic as storage of their valuables and sentimental items. This could be at risk of being destroyed by the excessive heat, humidity, or other issues. Attics are hostile places, especially when they are improperly insulated.
Solution
This customer had a very easy home to work with. We started with adding our SilverGlo™ EPS foam insulation board with graphite. We added this to the underside of the customer's roof deck. This helps keep heat out in summer and in in winter. We also air sealed the attic -- ensuring that there is no conditioned air leaking out of the attic and therefore, out of the house. It is a clean solution that prevents harsh chemicals that could exacerbate a medical issue. Luckily, this homeowner loved this solution -- he stated that he gave Fogarty's Home Services "five stars all around!" He is now able to utilize his attic as storage without worrying about the damage to his valuables, or even as a room in his home if he should choose to do so. This could be a life changing alteration for his home!
