Attic Insulation Photo Album: Insulating an Attic in Pittsfield, MA
This homeowner in Pittsfield, MA called us hoping that we would be able to help her out with the mold issue she had in her attic. When we came out to the home, we noted that there was inefficient fiberglass batt insulation in the attic. When inspecting, we also saw spots where the insulation had been compromised. Some of the insulation had been burnt or singed. Additionally, there was a large amount of damage due to mold in the fiberglass itself and damage from rodent activity in the attic. The fiberglass simply had to be replaced.
We started the process with bagging up all of the fiberglass insulation. The bags were then brought to our work truck to be disposed of.
Then, we started to air seal the attic with Zypfoam™ one part spray foam. Electrical components and can lights were covered with our TiteShell™ can light covers and sealed to prevent insulation from touching them. We then insulated the attic using our TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. We used a long hose to blow the cellulose into the attic. This blown-in cellulose insulation fills all gaps and odd voids -- creating a consistent blanket of insulation.
Now, this homeowner will have a much more comfortable home for years to come!
