Basement Insulation Photo Album: Finishing a Basement in Gill, MA
These home owners in Gill, MA called us to finish their basement. One thing we have to think about when making a unfinished basement livable is what we are going to do to insulate the area. We installed our 2"SilverGlo foam board and pinned it up to the walls of the basement. Where a fire-rated foam board was needed, we put up Foamax. Then we sprayed the rim joist to help seal the basement. After that we started to put up our Everlast wall panels, which are made of only non-organic materials. This is really important because, unlike painted sheet rock, these materials will not grow mold. Now that the panels are up, we have to install the flooring and ceiling. We used Thermal Dry flooring. It is a special type of flooring that we use in situations where dampness could be a concern in the future. Just like the walls, the floor has no organic materials, so no mold could grow on it as well. After the floor is finished, it is time to put the drop ceiling up then put on the finishing touches, like trimming the windows and adding the baseboard. Now this basement is beautiful and ready to be lived in!
