Insulated Vented Crawl Space in Gales Ferry, CT

Challenge

A common problem in homes is in non-insulated crawl spaces below the home. This could lead to Condensation, Mold, Rot, Pests, Odors and could lead to higher fuel and electric bills.

This was a problem for a homeowner in Gales Ferry, CT.  The homeowner came to us and said their kitchen floor was cold. Our team went right into action. Our team found out that the crawl space below was not insulated. This was allowing cold air to get in through the crawl space and up through the kitchen thus making the kitchen colder as well as the whole home. 

Solution

We started by cleaning up the crawl space and then we sealed any venting including the window as you see in the pictures. We insulated the walls with our amazing SilverGlo graphite infused EPS foam board to stop heat movement of heat through the walls of the crawl space. Then the Team laid down dimpled matting to keep airflow under the insulation and encapsulation that will be installed next. Once we covered the floor in dimpled matting, Our team used TerraBlock floor insulation and finished up with a vapor barrier liner.
