Crawl Space Insulation Photo Album: Eliminating Mold and Drafts in Winsted, CT
These homeowners in Winsted, CT had issues with cold air getting up into their home and had some mold forming in the crawlspace.
We started tackling the crawlspace by pulling out the old insulation that at one point had been installed into the ceiling of the crawlspace, but as we see time and time again, after a while, fiberglass batts will sag and even fall down, leaving space for cold air to get up into the home which causes cold floors. We treated the mold and once everything was clean and clear we pulled out some of the dirt to get everything nice and flat. We insulated the walls with out SilverGlo EPS foam board and put down dimpled matting to create an airspace. We then sealed the rim joist and any air leaks and placed TerraBlock floor insulation over our matting. Lastly, we installed our encapsulation liner which is an antimicrobial vapor barrier to keep out moisture.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver By Eco Energy Solutions, this crawlspace will no longer have mold issues and heat will stay in the home.
