Making a Garage Energy Efficient in Stafford Springs, CT
Challenge
This homeowner in Stafford Springs, CT called us out to their home to insulate their garage. This was new construction. This garage contained no previous insulation and was freezing cold. This also allowed a lot of outside air to leak into the home. Air leakage comes from gaps, joints in studs, wall sheathing, siding and drywall. Since it’s been so cold out, this homeowner was paying to reheat the same areas in the home due to this extensive air leakage. This homeowner needed to find a solution for the rise in their heating bills, and the temperature of their overall home.
Solution
To fix this cold, leaky garage we know what we need to do. We used our Insulweb material to hold back the cellulose insulation we will be dense-packing into these garage walls. We staple this Insulweb material against the studs. Next, we dense-pack TruSoft cellulose insulation into exterior wall cavities to form a proper thermal boundary for this space. Lastly we used our Fomax board in certain areas where the construction didn’t call for the insulweb and cellulose. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this is now an insulated space and will not allow excess air into the garage, and home!!!
