This homeowner called us out to their home in Thompson, CT for an Energy Evaluation. We noticed that their front AND basement doors were old, not air sealed, or pressure treated. This can cause issues such as cold or hot homes in the summer and winter. This can also lead to damp basements due to condensation from warm, humid air in the summer. We knew what we needed to do to help these homeowners become more comfortable in their home. First, we know that we need to remove the old, drafty doors. We take out the old door and framing. Then we install proper framing for the new door. Next, we install our pressure treated, insulated door that has weather stripping around itself. These doors are beautiful and fully customized. Now, the outside air and conditions will not be able to enter this home. The outside air stays outside, and the inside air stays inside.
