Stopping air leakage at the top of the house is a priority when it comes to making a home more comfortable. Can lights are holes in the ceiling which allow air to leak into the attic between the fixture and the drywall. Air leaks through the fixture itself due to the many holes and seams in it. Most can lights are not rated to have insulation against them because of the fire hazard when the fixture gets hot.
We installed our Dr. Energy Saver TiteShell can light covers. We used our expanding foam to make these lights air tight. These covers are safe from the fire hazards of hot bulbs and fixtures allowing cellulose insulation to be blown into the attic.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, air will no longer leak through this can light, and we can now safely blow in our cellulose around it.
Insulating an attic with TrueSoft Cellulose to keep items in the attic protected from heat and cold.
This homeowner in Windsor, CT called us hoping we would be able to help him with his insulation. His home was very temperature sensitive, and it was clear that the attic insulation was not doing its job.
We had the perfect solution for this customer. This solution has three parts.
The first part is the removal of the insulation. We bagged and removed the fiberglass batt insulation that was inside the attic. To finish off that step, we vacuumed up any loose pieces that were still on the attic floor to provide a clean and fresh workspace. After that, we began the second step -- air sealing. We used Zypfoam™ one part spray foam to air seal. This seals all cracks and crevices in the attic floor. We then used a long hose attached to a machine that blows our TruSoft™ cellulose insulation into the attic. TruSoft™ cellulose is able to fill all gaps and odd-shaped voids, as it is blown in insulation.
Now, this homeowner will have a much more comfortable home!
Previously this homeowner was experiencing very uncomfortable rooms below this attic as well as very high energy bills. Our Building Science Specialist came in and did an evaluation with the homeowner and discovered there were problems in the walk up attic.
Our production team installed a Super Attic Conversion System in this attic to eliminate uncomfortable rooms, ice damming and cold drafts, and of course, energy loss. The homeowner was very happy with the changes they saw immediately in their home.
This homeowner in Windsor Locks, CT had just purchased their home and knew there was work to be done with the insulation. Cape Cod style homes often have poorly insulated kneewall spaces, and we can help.
The old insulation was dirty, ineffective, and falling apart so we started by removing it. Once the space was clean, we installed our SilverGlo graphite infused EPS foam with radiant barrier to keep the heat from the roof out and the heat from the home in. Lastly, we sealed the spaces between the boards.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this home is far more energy efficient and comfortable.
