An interior wall was exposed to a hot/cold attic so Fogarty's Home Services insulated the exposed wall with SilverGlo and expanded polystyrene foam insulation board with graphite infused in the foam.
This homeowner in Andover, CT reached out to us when she found out that the entirety of her attic insulated was moldy. Our Home Comfort Specialist arrived at the home and immediately noted that they were correct - and that something needed to be done to help them as soon as possible for the safety of the family.
We went to work, immediately removing the fiberglass attic insulation that was there. We then sealed all air leaks using our one-part Zypfoam, and installed baffles to keep some air flow from the outside to the attic. We then insulated with our TruSoft™ blown-in cellulose insulation. This insulation is fire resistant, mold resistant, and is not a comfortable home for pests.
This homeowner now has a more comfortable and safe home for herself and her family as a result of our work!
Attic Insulation With SilverGlo foam boards in Bechlortown, MA
This homeowner in Millers Falls, MA called us with issues with her attic insulation. When our Home Comfort Specialist arrived in the home, he noticed that the area around the chimney was not insulated. This is a fairly common occurrence, as normally, you are not able to put anything within 2" of the chimney that could be combustible. However, this leaves a large gap that is uninsulated -- causing your energy bills to rise and the air you pay to condition to escape to the attic.
Fogarty's Home Services has a fairly simple solution to this problem. This customer's recommended solution was a "chimney wrap". We first had to put metal flashing between the wood framing and the chimney. This was sealed with "fire caulk", a high temperature caulk. We then used fireproof "Rock Wool" insulation panels around the chimney. This made it possible for us to use our blown-in TruSoft™ cellulose insulation in the rest of the attic. These solutions lowered our customer's energy bills and made her home more comfortable year round!
Our customer in Stafford Springs, CT called Fogarty's Home Services with concerns regarding drafts and the effectiveness of her attic insulation. When our Home Comfort Specialist arrived and performed a Free Home Energy Evaluation for her, he noticed open air space between the chimney and the lack of proper insulation. We prepared the chimney for insulation by sealing the chimney chase with metal flashing. We then installed fireproof panels to insulate the area around the chimney and prevent air leakage. The attic was then air sealed and insulated with TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. This keeps the temperature-controlled air the customer is paying for INSIDE the home, lowering her energy bills and saving her money!
